Digest #12: Swamped before Summer kicks off?
June 14, 2025
Let’s be honest, the pace of the world is not slowing down anytime soon.
As the school year ends, and as Q2 comes to a close, I’m personally ready to take a big exhale. But without some intention, there’s a risk that this summer (like so many in the past) will breeze by without real rejuvenation.
Here’s the truth: whether now, during back to school in the Fall or deep in holiday prep mode, we can’t always control the pace around us, but we can choose how we respond to it.
I’m spending time over the next 2 weeks personally shifting my focus AND my mindset as I make space for top priorities (read: not ALL priorities) alongside intentional time for rest.
How are you prepping for a summer downshift?

Four Mindset Shifts
Here are simple, but powerful mindset shifts to help you reframe overwhelm and take a beat when it’s all starting to feel too heavy.
From “I have to do everything” → “What’s most important today?”
Overwhelm often comes from treating everything as urgent. Instead, pause and prioritize. Ask: What truly matters in this moment? Give yourself permission to focus on one thing at a time. From “I’m behind” → “I’m doing my best with the time I have”
The pressure to always be “caught up” is unrealistic in a world that never stops. Reclaim your energy by recognizing your effort, not just your output. From “This is too much” → “I can take this one step at a time”
When it all feels like too much, zoom in. Breaking big tasks into bite-sized actions helps reduce mental clutter and brings momentum back on your side. From “I should be able to handle this” → “It’s okay to ask for support”
Busyness doesn’t mean you have to go it alone. High-performers know when to delegate, take a breath, or reach out. Strength isn’t in doing it all. It’s also in knowing when not to.
